Sedation Dentistry Can Make Dental Procedures Simple And Comfortable

New York, You Never Have To Fear The Dentist Again

sedation dentistry

Many people stay away from the dentist due to anxiety and fear.  This keeps them from getting the treatment they need.

According to recent research, more than 75% of Americans have a fear of going to the dentist.  Most of this fear stems either from past bad experiences or stories they have heard from family and friends.  Some of their fear has come as a result of things they saw in movies.

Whatever the reason for your fear and anxiety, you really don’t have to fear the dentist ever again.  Dentistry has advanced greatly over the years and our ability to make your comfortable has never been greater or better.

New sedation dentistry techniques allow us to make the procedure you need simple and comfortable.  If you have questions about sedation, then go ahead and give us a call.

Here at Arch Dental of Manhattan, we have been helping patients with their fear and anxiety for over 20 years.  We offer 3 types of sedation and comfort dentistry for your convenience:

Nitrous Oxide

This type of sedation is the most common.  Most people know it as “laughing gas.”  Nitrous Oxide is for treatments like routine cleanings or just a filling.  This simple form of sedation can help you relax throughout your entire dental treatment.

Oral Conscience Sedation

Some patients come to us and they have a higher amount of anxiety and fear or they have gagging problems.  For these patients, we provide oral sedation.  After taking a combination of pills that we provide, we closely monitor vital signs throughout their entire procedure to ensure their safety.

Patients will experience drowsiness and become extremely relaxed after they take the pills we provide them.  Most patients don’t even remember anything about their appointment.

With oral sedation, you will not be put to sleep.  You will also be able to respond to the dentist and his team during this time.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is  where the sedation is administered and the vital signs of the patient are monitored throughout the procedure. In this case, patients will be sleeping throughout the procedure and will only wake up when the procedure has been completed.

It will be beneficial for patients to try to understand the recovery time they need after the procedure has been completed especially if they are required to return to work or attend school. Numbing agents used during the procedure will take time to wear off and if patients do not want to deal with such a problem, we can help them by administering Oraverse, which can reverse the after-effects of the local anesthetic within 25 to 30 minutes.
